REED & ASSOCIATES, INC.

Curt was born and raised in California and is a third generation California native.  He graduated from the University of Santa Clara in Santa Clara, CA with a degree in electrical engineering.  He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, who graduated from Santa Clara University as a civil engineer, and his uncle, who graduated from Santa Clara University as a mechanical engineer.  Curt decided to further his studies and received his master's degree in Business Administration from the California State University at Los Angeles.  Upon receiving his MBA, Curt began his career in the financial services industry as an advisor with Equity Services, Inc. (ESI) in San Diego, CA in 1977.  ESI is known for its outstanding professional training program.  After his first year in the program, Curt was recognized as a leading advisor in the United States with ESI.

In 1983, he became affiliated with Lincoln Financial Group and obtained additional expertise in investment and retirement planning.  At that time he started working with and assisting the management of two large healthcare systems in San Diego to develop successful employee retirement plans.  Over a twenty year period through Reed Financial & Insurance Services, Curt refined these retirement plans, and he and his team enrolled over 4,000 employees in the retirement plans of each of these large health care systems.

In 1990, Curt began offering comprehensive financial planning to his clients.  This was done in order to provide a truly independent and comprehensive approach to financial planning.  As this planning practice grew, the decision was made to incorporate and form Reed & Associates, Inc., and to register the corporation as an investment advisor with the state of California, primarily doing fee only investment and retirement planning.  Reed & Associates, Inc. believes that in order to provide world class service and guidance, an investment professional should be free from the influences present at many of the traditional Wall Street firms.

Over the last few years, Curt has completed the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional education program and is also an Investment Advisor Representative of Reed & Associates, Inc., member FINRA.

Curt and his wife, Jeanne, live in northern San Diego Country near Lake Hodges in the city of Escondido.  Jeanne is a retired teacher from the San Diego City Schools.  They are very happy to be a part of this community and feel it is a wonderful place to live.  Curt and Jeanne have two grown children, Melissa and Marc.  

Melissa Reed was born and raised in San Diego, California and is a fourth generation native.  She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from San Diego State University.  Melissa is currently attending the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of the West Indies and will graduate as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.     

Melissa has been exposed to financial advising from birth.  She worked for Reed Financial & Insurance Services  before it was incorporated as Reed & Associates, Inc.  Melissa is our web designer and helps keep our technology current.  She is one of the people behind the scenes who keeps the day-to-day operations of the company running smoothly.     

Melissa and her husband, Jason, an engineer, currently reside in the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago.  They spend their free time in San Diego and New Orleans.  They have two cats and four dogs.
